Cold Spring sits on the eastern bank of the Hudson River where Storm King Mountain rises dramatically from the water. This compact village feels transplanted from another era—Victorian storefronts line Main Street, and the waterfront bandstand has hosted concerts since the 1800s.
The town's location made it a strategic point during the Revolutionary War, and nearby West Point continues that military tradition. Today, visitors come for the Metro-North train from Grand Central, the antique shops, and access to some of the Hudson Valley's best hiking.
Breakneck Ridge offers challenging trails with sweeping views, while the gentler Hudson Highlands State Park provides easier walks through forests and past ruins. The waterfront park offers perfect sunset views across to Storm King Mountain.
